Obituary for Jeffery Allen Christy

Jeffrey A. Christy, 51, of South Pittsburg, TN was granted his angel wings on December 10, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends at his home.

Jeff was born July 20, 1965, in Clinton, Indiana, to William "Bill" and Freda J. Hall Chasteen, Kentland, IN and they survive. He attended Benton Central High School in Fowler, IN as well as Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, TN. Jeff was a simple man who enjoyed time with his family and sharing his faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a masonry restoration specialist by trade.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Fred A. Hall, Rosy Smith and Tom Chasteen.

He is survived by his parents, loving companion, Betty Hatfield, one son, Jeffrey William Christy, 2 granddaughters, Haliegh and Delaney Christy; brothers, Scott Christy and his wife, Linda of Whitwell, TN and David Peterson and his wife, Holly, of Twin Falls, Idaho; sisters, Theresa McMurtrie of Shelbyville, TN, Brenda Horn and her companion, Tim Wilson, of Shelbyville, TN, and Angie Wooten of Kentland, Indiana. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5-7pm Central time at Gerts Funeral Home in Goodland, Indiana.

Funeral services will be on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11am Central time at Gerts Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Klingler officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery in Goodland, Indiana.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to help with expenses.
