Alton Gene Stewart, Sr., 63, of South Pittsburg, TN died Thursday, June 18, 2009 in a local hospital.
The son of the late John Mitchell and Clydie Louise Grider Stewart, he was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise in Kimball, TN. An avid outdoorsman, he loved camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union and worked for US Stove in Bridgeport, AL.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Webb; and his brother, Carl Stewart.
He is survived by his daughters, Virgie (Mitchell) Swafford and Debra (Eddie) Richardson; sons, Alton Stewart, Jr. and James Dewayne Stewart; brothers, Roy Lee (Edna) Stewart and Johnny "Toby" (Debbie) Stewart; ex-wife, Aline McCroslin, all of South Pittsburg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends, Mack and Pat Burton of LaPlatta, Maryland and Judy Elliott; God-daughters, Crystal Noel Rector and Ashley Cardin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg at 2pm on Monday, June 22nd.

Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10am - 9pm at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Saturday, June 20th. There will be no visitation on Sunday, June 21st.
