Alvin Dale Henderson, 82, of Winchester, formerly of South Pittsburg, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at his home.The son of the late James Samuel and Matilda Jane Peoples Henderson, he was a US Veteran of World War II and a member of the Estill Springs Lodge #561. A member of Payne's Baptist Church, he was retired from Schneider Services International at Arnold Engineering Development Center after 24 years, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Jo Griffin Henderson; son, Alvin D. Henderson, Jr.; daughter, Virginia Don Henderson; brothers, Gordon Lee and James Edward Henderson; sisters, Mattie Christine Blevins and Mary Ruth Kelly.He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Boyer and her husband, Joe of Estill Springs, TN; grandson, Ande Boyer; granddaughter, Shannon Marie Money and husband, Tommy; great-granddaughter Catherine Josephine Money; several brothers- and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 3:30pm CST. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 - 9:00pm CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg with a Masonic Service to be held at 7:00pm.
