IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
Hall
October 31, 1933 – March 30, 2022
Barbara Jean Rooker Hall was born on October 31, 1933 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Trick or treat?? Sometimes a little of both. Barbara passed away on March 30, 2022. She moved to Chattanooga to attend Temple University and was always a trailblazer of sorts. She worked at a time when it was not the norm for a woman in the workplace. She discovered yoga, Birkenstocks, and green tea before all of the hipsters. She met her husband Grover Hall square dancing. Yes, square dancing. Much to her teenage daughter's dismay, she was often seen about Hixson sporting her square dancing get-up. Barbara and Grover married in 1982 and began their adventures together. Fairfield Glade, Branson, maybe even Las Vegas–they never met a timeshare they didn't love. Barbara spent her later years in South Pittsburg and Jasper where she attended First Baptist Church. You might know her as the "sample lady" at local stores where she participated in her favorite activity--talking to people. A visit to Barbara in the past few years wasn't complete without hearing, "getting old is not for sissies." She was a tough old broad who made it look pretty easy.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, JD and Evelyn Rooker, her brother Roland Rooker, and her husband, Grover Hall. She is survived by her brother Jerry Rooker, her bonus sister Jan Rooker, her daughter Angela McDaniel Chambers and her husband Chris, her stepson Dean Hall and his wife Betty, and her grandchildren, Cassie, Cooper, Ashlee, Chloe, and Taylor.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 3 at 1:00 pm CST at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. https://chattfoodbank.org/
Arrangements are entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg, TN 37380. (423) 837-7176.
