IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Baxter
Mccurry
April 26, 1996 – August 11, 2023
Baxter Alan McCurry, 27, was born in Chattanooga, TN on April 26, 1996. He tragically lost his life on August 11, 2023.
Baxter grew up in Jasper. He graduated from Whitwell High school, class of 2014. As a student he was best known as an outgoing athlete- playing baseball, football, basketball but above all soccer. He loved music and was a natural talent on guitar. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, even though he liked to "drive like a grandpa."
Baxter McCurry was a beloved individual known to many in the Chattanooga and surrounding community. He was more than just a name; he was an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was best known as a bartender at the Stir and Feed. He was a smiling face behind the bar waiting to serve you the best old-fashioned. He also worked in sales at Don Ledford Automotive. While living in Maui, he loved being out on the water and worked on the boat crew at Maui Classic Charters. So many in the community were touched by his vivacious personality and humor. No matter how you walked in, you'd leave with a smile and one of the best hugs if you needed it.
Baxter loved his friends so much that most friends recognized him as family. He was "like a brother" "like a son" to so many and he embraced these intimate connections. He was the life of the room and brought joy with him everywhere he went. He showed kindness to all and shared the most genuine soul.
Left to cherish his memory are his mom, Sherry McCurry, two sisters- Olivia and Chelsea, niece Avis, and his grandparents Carrie and Cecil Davis (better known as Memaw and Pepaw).
All people die, but not all people live. Baxter lived! He packed a lifetime of adventures into twenty-seven years. His presence is like a rock tossed into a lake, sending ripples outward into the world. He lived life with the biggest love, the most enchanting smile and a contagious laugh. His light brightened all our lives and was taken far too soon. May his memory continue to inspire kindness, genuine love, laughter and compassion. It is our family's wish for all that knew him to keep his legacy alive in your memories.
