Bertha Juanita Hookey Houchins, 80, of Bridgeport, AL died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in a local hospital.
The daughter of the late Joe W. and Zell Coburn Hookey, she retired from SunTrust bank after 25 years of service. A native of the South Pittsburg area, she was a member of the South Pittsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Clayton Hookey.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Matthews of Scottsboro; son, Darrell (Beverly) Houchins of Chattanooga; sister, Betty (Joe) Rogers of Stevenson; brothers, J.R. Hookey, Jerre (Julia) Hookey, Kenneth Hookey and Bobby (Sally) Hookey all of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Shawn Houchins of Chattanooga, Ryan Matthews of Scottsboro and Keith Matthews of Stevenson; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11 AM CDT. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.
The family will gather with friends for vistitation from 6-9 PM CDT on Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
