Betty Mae Ewing Hargiss

August 23, 1934 – June 19, 2024

Betty Mae Ewing Hargiss, 89, of South Pittsburg, TN, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

Betty was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Services for 23 years.  She attended the Battlecreek Baptist Church.  Her hobbies included crocheting and collecting carnival glass.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hargiss; daughter, Susan Mae Hargiss; parents, Vernon William Ewing and Ella Marie Heimback Ewing; brothers, Robert Ewing and Vernon Ewing; sisters, Phyllis Harper and Jackie Ewing.

Survivors include her son, Jeff (Becky) Hargiss; grandson, Craig Hargiss; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Dorothy DeWeese and Betty Partin; Church friends, Rosa Wayne, Susie Pullium and Alicia Stuart; special ladies of the Jasper library, Shirley Alder, Carolyn Ferguson, Ann Gray and Linda Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. (CST) in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Nelson officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CST) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.

Betty will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, George Hargiss in the Gilliam Cemetery in Battlecreek, TN

Pallbearers will be the men of Battlecreek Baptist Church.
