Mrs. Betty Farris Reed, 81, of New Hope, TN died Sunday, June 3, 2012 in a Chattanooga hospital.

The daughter of the late Amos and Bernice Farris, she was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in New Hope. She had worked at the Chattanooga News Free-Press, Brach Candy Company, Tokheim and the Pinecrest Restaurant, but spent the majority of her life dedicated to taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing and will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Williams; brother, Lauren Farris; daughter, Nancy Bryant and an infant great-grandson.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Reed, Sr. of New Hope, TN; children, Danny (Sandra) Reed of Jasper, Anna Marie Henderson of Chattanooga, Gary (Mary) Wingfield of Chickamauga, GA, James E. Reed, Jr. of South Pittsburg, Evelyn Reed (Mike) Waldrop of Smyrna, GA and Patricia (Jonathan) Caldwell of New Hope; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2pm Central time with Rev. Arlon Weldon officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, June 4th from 6-8pm Central time and Tuesday from 9am until service time at the funeral home.
