Billy Gene (Sonny) Burnette, 86, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 in Winchester, Tennessee after a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Ava Burnette; his beloved wife, Nona Cagle Burnette; daughter, Barbara Ann Perry; granddaughter, Hannah Qualls; great grandson, Kaden Cross Qualls; sister, Patsy Rich and brother, Jerry Burnette.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Vince) Sutton; grandson, Brian Sutton; granddaughter, Leia Turner; great grandson, Landon Turner; sister, Linda Boldin; brother, Jimmy Burnette; special sister in law, Barbara Burnette and several nieces and nephews.

Sonny was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School, served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and retired from TVA Widows Creek. He enjoyed riding horses, flying his airplane and Tennessee football.

The family will have a private visitation on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. (CST) at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport, Alabama with his nephew, John Matthews officiating.

Everyone is welcome to attend the graveside service at the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Sutton, Monty Hill, Eddie Moore, Neil Durbin, Billy Frank Thomas and Billy King.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family requests everyone please wear a mask.
