Billy "Bill" Hogan, 80, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 17, 2025.  A resident of New Hope, Tennessee, Bill was born June 27, 1944.

A beloved Dad and Poppy to his grands, he enjoyed family get togethers if it involved food and storytelling.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nannie B. Smith Hogan; sisters, JoAnn Hogan Whitmire, Mary Frances Hogan Brown, and Nancy Hogan Hamrick; brother Charlie (Muscles) Hogan, nephew, Jason Dempsey; son-in- law, Ken Phillips, brother-in-law's, Larry McCallister, Jim Brown, Kenneth Hamrick and Ralph Whitmire.

Bill is survived by his love of 24 years, Sherry Phillips of Rossville, GA; children, Susan Phillips and Steven Hogan of Red Bank, TN and Marty (Sheryl) Lockhart of Auburn, GA; grandchildren Ashlee (Peyton) Maxwell of Ringgold, GA, Austin Phillips of Red Bank, TN, and Dakota Lockhart and Shianne (Brent) Couch of Auburn, Georgia; sisters Barbara Sue McCallister of Kimball, TN; Yvonne (George) Hughes of Hixson, TN; Lisa (Larry) Dempsey of New Hope, TN; Kathy (Steve) Stevens of Kimball, TN; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companions  Alpha, Toby, Trooper and Harley.

Prior to owning and operating his own business, Bill was a member of the Teamsters and was employed by Tennessee Carolina Transport.  He then followed his dream and proudly owned and operated Hogan Body Shop where he spent countless hours restoring vehicles.

Among his many passions, he earned a brown belt in Bando, the traditional Burmese martial art, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to personal growth, discipline, and inner peace. His commitment to discipline and loyalty extended to his beloved German Shepards, Trace and Alpha, who he trained through obedience school.  Bill helped coach the Royal Aces, a softball team in Chattanooga, taking them to the ASA National Fastpitch tournament in Boulder, Colorado.  He was a talented billiards player who found joy in the challenge of tournament play.   Bill also enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. (CDT) in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Webb officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.

Bill will be laid to rest in New Hope Cemetery beside his parents.
