Robert C. "Bob" Wortman, 86, of Springville, Alabama, died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Robert Howard State Veteran's Home.

Born on March 13, 1931 in Sullivan County, New York, Bob was a Cum Laude graduate of Pace College in Westchester, New York, and served as a Sergeant with the US Army during the Korean War. He retired after several years as a Vice-President of Blue Cross Blue Shield in Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Oderwald Wortman, and one daughter, Maria Wortman.

He is survived by his children, Sharon (Richard) Weiland of Springville, Alabama, Robert (Sherri) Wortman of New Milford, Connecticut, Helen Burleson of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Teresa (Deron) Chapin of Jasper, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Wortman of Manhattan, New York; sister, Jeanne (Bill) Cockren of New York, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Central time on Friday, October 13, 2017, with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will be at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 Noon Central time until time of service.
