Brenda Hart Matthews of Augusta, Georgia, formerly of Bridgeport, Alabama, passed away on February 24, 2025, at WellStar Hospital of Augusta, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on February 25, 1945, in Bridgeport, Alabama, she was the youngest child of the late James Grady Hart and Emily Harris Hart.

Brenda was raised in Bridgeport, Alabama where she attended school, and met and later married Kyle Matthews Jr., together they had three sons. Brenda was crowned Centennial Queen and admired for her beauty, kindness and sweet nature. Brenda was a devoted mother to her three boys, Kyle "Trace", Clay and Mark Matthews. She was a devout Christian, avid bible reader, and dedicated member of Whole Life Ministries of Augusta, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Kyle Matthews Jr., her brothers, JB Hart and Billy Hart, sisters, Kathrine Smith and Jo Anne Rector.

Brenda is survived by her three sons, Kyle "Trace" (Debbie) Matthews III of Martinez, GA, Clay Matthews of Richmond, VA and Mark Matthews of Augusta, GA.

Grandchildren Kyle Matthews IV, Sean Matthews, Brittany (Reese) Glisson, Tyler Matthews, and Sydney Matthews; Great grandchildren, Kyle "Ben" Matthews V and Poppy Michelle Glisson; brother, Kenneth Hart, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. (CST) in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with grandson, Kyle Matthews IV officiating.

Mrs. Matthews will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Kyle Benjamin Matthews, Jr., at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tennessee.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CST) prior to the funeral service in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Matthews IV, Sean Matthews, Tyler Matthews, Reese Glisson, Robert Sharpe, and Curtis Sharpe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Moss and Bob Rogers.
