Carl Edward Case, 79, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at a local hospital.

The son of the late Newton Sylvester & Flora Lindale Housley Case, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Joyce Poe. He was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School and a long-time member of the South Pittsburg First Baptist Church, where he served as usher for many years. He retired after 32 years of service as a clerk for the United States Postal Service, and began a second career in 1994 with the Marion County Register's Office as Chief Deputy Clerk, a position in which he was still serving.

Carl was an avid basketball and football fan. He loved to watch the University of Tennessee, the University of Kentucky, and the South Pittsburg Pirates, and was a Pirate Basketball season ticket seller. The #1 Sequatchie Valley Basketball fan, he had attended State Basketball Tournaments every year, beginning in 1958. He was also an avid fisherman, and enjoyed watching old Western movies and reading.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cecietta Witt Case, of South Pittsburg; daughter, Ansley "Lele" (Tracy) Hulvey, of South Pittsburg; son, Darrin Patrick (Jaime) Case, of Clinton, Tennessee; granddaughters, Caitlin (Josh) Grider, of Stevenson, Alabama, Hannah Hulvey of South Pittsburg, Tiffany Jackson and Taylor Case, of Sherwood, Arkansas; step-grandchildren, Joey Morgenstern, and Anna Holland, both of Clinton; brothers, William (Candy) Case, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Jerry Don (Candy) Case, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; sisters, Mary Ann (H.T.) Hobbs, of New Hope, Tennessee, and Charlotte (Johnny) Marshall, of Jasper, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at the South Pittsburg First Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m. Central time on Saturday, April 7, 2018, with Rev. Ronnie Case and Rev. Brad Bridgman, officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the South Pittsburg High School Athletic Department.
