Carrye Margaret Hudson Lawrence
August 9, 1935 – September 30, 2026
South Pittsburg, Tennessee
Carrye Margaret Hudson Lawrence, age 91, left this earth for heaven on September 30, 2026, in South Pittsburg, TN. Born in Decatur, Alabama, to Johnie and Nina Hudson, Carrye proudly lived her entire life within one mile of the glittering Tennessee River.
In life, Carrye was an avid reader who raised her three children, Bill, Mary, and Julie, with unmatched quick wit and a strong sense of self. Through her caring nature she impacted the lives of countless others, whether through her leadership of the local Girl Scouts Troop at every level or through the Kimball Roller Rink, which she owned and operated for nearly 30 years.
Lovingly called Mawmaw by her grandchildren and Bobo by her great-grandchildren, Carrye was famous for her treats of strawberries with sugar and “headache medicine,” known more commonly as M&Ms; though she never managed to bake a cake that would properly stay together.
Carrye is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lawrence, Sr. Her parents, Johnie & Nina Hudson. Her brothers, Junior Hudson and Dr. Calvin Hudson. Her daughters, Mary Lawrence Durham and Julie Lawrence Schaefer. And her best friend, Rose Castle.
She is survived by her son, Bill Lawrence Jr. and his wife Christy. Her brother, Ronnie Hudson and his wife Charlene. Her grandchildren, Molly Schaefer Still and husband McLain, Jodi Lawrence, Sarah Durham Albert and husband Chris, and Pledger Schaefer. Her great-grandchildren: Liam Still, Rainey Still, Felix Still, and Jaxon Albert, along with many nieces and nephews.
Carrye’s life will be celebrated on Friday, October 16th at 5:00PM (CDT) in the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 3:00PM to 5:00PM (CDT) with a ceremony to follow.
