Mr. Charles William "Charlie" Powers, 79, of South Pittsburg, TN died Thursday, April 20, 2006 in a Chattanooga Hospital. An US Army veteran of WWII and Korea, Charlie was a member of the VFW and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, having been a member of the American Treeing Feist Association and the Fiery Gizzard Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mandy Martin and "Gump". He is survived by his wife, Virginia Gibson Powers of South Pittsburg; children, Sara H. (John) Moore of Jasper, Evelyn (Marion) Bridges of Brevard, NC and Bobby & Carolyn Skyles of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Heather & Marc Abbey of Greenville, SC, Kimberlen & Thomas Spake of Chattanooga, Trae Moore of Jasper and Angie Skyles of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Lauren Carter and Kaytlin Land both of Greenville, SC.Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 2 PM CDT with Dr. Randy Smith and Rev. Pat Fife officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery.The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-8 PM CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Charlie Powers Animal Memorial Fund c/o North Jackson Animal Clinic, 124 County Road 85, Stevenson, AL 35772 or to the Richard City Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
