Mr. Charles Daniel "Witsie" Nelson, 79, of South Pittsburg, TN died in a local hospital on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. The son of the late Isaac Dennis and Florence Pearl Nichols Nelson, he served the United States Army in the Korean War, was a former employee of Revere Copper & Brass, retired from TVA in Muscle Shoals, AL and was an active member of the Kimball Church of Christ and of the Senior Saints group at the church. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anna Wilson and brother, Sam Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Mabel W. Nelson; two sons, Randy (Sherry) Nelson of Jasper, TN and Chris (Donna) Nelson of South Pittsburg; five brothers, J.L. Nelson, Luther Nelson and Tommy Nelson all of South Pittsburg, Bill Nelson of Sequatchie Mountain, TN and George Nelson of Sewanee, TN; sister, Jenny Goodner of Signal Mountain; and three grandchildren, Nicole Nelson, Caleb Nelson and Maleah Nelson. Funeral services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Saturday, February 4th at 11AM Central Time, officiated by Billy Watkins and Roger Comstock. Interment will be in Gilliam Cemetery where military honors will be rendered at the graveside. The family will receive friends at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Friday, February 3rd from 5PM - 9PM Central Time.
