Charles Edward Smith, Jr., 75, of the Battle Creek community near South Pittsburg, TN died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a lifelong resident of South Pittsburg, a US Army veteran and a member of the Fiery Gizzard Hunting Club. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Edna Louise Angel Smith; and his sister, Laura Jane Smith Thompson. He is survived by his daughter, Laura LeAnn Smith; sons, Charles Roy Smith and Troy "Wolfee" Mount all of the Battle Creek community; grandchildren, Charles Levi Smith of South Pittsburg, Charley Ann Smith and Aubrey Carolyn Smith of Bridgeport, AL; and sister, Anna Louise VanAken of Los Altos, CA. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Friday, April 24th at 1pm CST with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will be in Gilliam Cemetery in Battle Creek. The family will gather with friends for visitation on Wednesday evening from 6 - 9pm, on Thursday from 9am - 9pm CST and Friday from 9am-1pm at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
