IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlie
Hogan
October 10, 2021
Charlie (Muscles) Hogan, 70, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 10, 2021.
A life-long resident of New Hope, Tennessee, Charlie was born May 22, 1951. He was a member of the South Pittsburg Church of Christ.
Charlie was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, John and Nannie B. Smith Hogan; sisters, JoAnn Hogan Whitmire, Mary Frances Hogan Brown, and Nancy Hogan Hamrick; and nephew Jason Dempsey.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 45 years, Debbie Pyburn Hogan of New Hope, TN; brother Bill Hogan of New Hope, TN; sisters Barbara Sue (Larry) McCallister of South Pittsburg, TN; Yvonne (George) Hughes of Hixson, TN; Lisa (Larry) Dempsey of New Hope, TN; Kathy (Steve) Stevens of Kimball, TN and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful pets Fred, Trixie and Nub.
Charlie was owner of Hogan Remodeling and as a third-generation carpenter he served the community for over 40 years with his sought-after skills. A man of his word, he stood by his work. Throughout his career and honoring the request of his mother, Charlie ensured the needs of the elderly were met. Many people came into his life during his career, and many touched his heart, particularly Mrs. Ruth O'Leary, Mrs. Betty Partin, Mrs. Vera Storey, and Ms. Ruth Stewart.
Charlie was a self-taught piano player who loved to entertain at family gatherings. His most frequent request was "Last Date." His love for music was inspired by his late cousin, Jerry Gothard. While they often played songs by Elvis Presley, Charlie and Jerry received the most joy by dueling on the pianos to the quick sounds of Jerry Lee Lewis.
