Clara Anna Pryor Johnson, 89, of Jasper, Tennessee died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in a Chattanooga hospital.
The daughter of the late Vestus James & Willie Mae Teague Pryor, she was a longtime educator, having taught Literature and English at McReynolds High School in South Pittsburg. She had been a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church since childhood and had been a member of the church choir and was a former President of the church youth choir. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Bryant Johnson, and sisters, Virginia Jo Pryor, Mable Pryor, and Belinda Bass Powell.
She is survived by three sisters, Willie Clyde Pryor, Alline Pryor Hale, and Joyce Ann Doss, all of Jasper, Tennessee; aunt, Mary Lou Myers, of Jasper; special nieces, Abbie O'Neal and Hayley Doss, of Jasper; special nephews, Christopher and Reginald Doss, of Atlanta, Georgia; and special friend, Kenny Walker, of Jasper.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. central time on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Miles Bivins and Rev. Larry Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Jasper.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
