Retired Col. Joseph Madison Carlton, 89, formerly of Jasper, TN passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Huntsville Hospital.
Col. Carlton served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and is retired aeronautical engineer from Marshal Space Flight Center. In retirement, Col. Carlton contributed numerous hours of voluntary service to the Redstone Arsenal Bicentennial Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Nell Carlton of Huntsville, AL; four children, Wendy Carlton Glover and her husband Rod Glover, Gwen Carlton and fiance, John Watkins, Marsha Carlton Weinstein and her husband, Gary Weinstein M.D., Joe M.Carlton, Jr. and his wife, Libby Carlton. He also is survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild, Joey Carlton, Ben Weinstein, Leslie Roberts, Laura Weinstein, Bill Carlton, Adam Weinstein and Kathryn Anne Carlton.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday December 10, 2008 at 4:00 PM CST at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper with interment to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
There will be no visitation for Mr. Carlton prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Heart Association.
