David Thornton “Davey” Martin, Jr.
7/1/1962 – 04/11/2026
David Thornton “Davey” Martin Jr., born July 1, 1962, passed away suddenly, Saturday, April 11, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply. A lifelong resident of the Battle Creek Community, Davey never strayed far from the place he called home and cherished so deeply. It was there that he built his life, his legacy, and countless memories with those he loved most.
Davey was known by all who met him as one of the hardest working, toughest, and most stubborn men you could ever know—but behind that strength was a heart as big as they come. He would do anything he could for anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. A farmer his entire life, he worked side by side with his beloved wife, Lisa Martin, building a life rooted in dedication, resilience, and love for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, David Martin Sr. and Dorothy Martin, Wife, Lisa Martin and Sister, Laura Stewart.
Survived by his two sons, Jake (Riley) Martin, Austin (Brittany) Martin, Granddaughter Addyson Martin, Sister, Kathy (David) Smith, Aunts , Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews , and many friends.
He was a proud father to his two sons, Jake Martin and Austin Martin, whom he raised to carry on his strong work ethic, values, and love for family. Davey was also a proud grandfather, a role he treasured deeply since 2018. His granddaughter, Addyson Grace, brought him endless joy, laughter, and a light that meant the world to him.
Davey had a kind spirit and a playful side—he loved making people laugh and was always quick with a joke or a goofy comment that could brighten anyone’s day. He had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and, most importantly, spending time surrounded by his family.
Though life was not always easy for Davey, especially in the past ten years, he faced every challenge with strength, grit, and determination. He fought hard and stayed strong through it all, never losing the toughness and resilience that defined him.
His passing feels far too soon, but we take comfort in knowing that God has a purpose, and that Davey is finally at peace.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. His legacy will live on through his family, the values he instilled, and the many lives he touched.
