David Lee Newsom, 70, of Jasper, died Friday, September 1, 2006 at his home.The son of the late Dillard Dee and Evelyn Thomas Newsom, he was a Korean War Veteran, a lifelong carpenter and was of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Mae Newsom, brothers, Steve, C.G. and Dee Newsom and one grandchild.He is survived by his daughter, Dianne N. Johnson of Dalton, GA; four sons, Ricky Newsom and Wayne Newsom both of Jasper, Anthony Newsom of New Hope and Brad Newsom of Rome, GA; sisters, Judy Nugent of Jasper and Linda Catron of Avon Park, FL; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00 PM CDT on Monday, September 4, 2006 with Rev. David Ryder officiating. Interment will be in Rankins Cove Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-9 PM and Sunday from 9AM - 9PM CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.
