Mr. David Peoples, 62, of South Pittsburg died Monday, January 19, 2009 in a local healthcare facility.
The son of the late Shirley Wood and Minerva Louise Durham Peoples, he was a Meter Reader for Marion Natural Gas and South Pittsburg Waterworks for many years. He was a former gospel singer and was a member, Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Trustee at Grace Baptist Church in South Pittsburg.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Lee Bates, Minnie Jo Hadaway, Betty Ann Acock and Margaret Louise Martin and two brothers, Charles Edward "Sampson" Peoples and Leon Peoples.
He is survived by his wife, Charlynn Barnes Peoples of South Pittsburg; brother, Henry Harrison Peoples of South Pittsburg; sister and special brother, Imogene and Norman Ellison of McDonald, GA and sister, Mary Lou Campbell of South Pittsburg; our special little girl, Lynn Humphreys; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 2 PM CST with Reverend Ronnie Case officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will gather with friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 20 from 4-9 PM CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund.
