September 19, 1953 – July 2, 2022
Alvin Dean Shoemake, 68, of New Hope, Tennessee, laid down his working tools at his home, on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Dean was an ironworker by trade and was a proud member of the Ironworker Local 704 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He worked within the tri state area on numerous projects and traveled many years erecting iron on some of the largest projects in the southeast working alongside his brothers and sisters from Ironworkers Local 92 in Birmingham, Alabama. He finished his ironworker career at Arnold AFB, in Tullahoma, TN.
Dean was known for his love for cars, motorcycles, his union brothers and sisters and his lodge brothers. He served in many capacities over the years including Master Mason of the Marion Lodge and past president of the Templar Brotherhood Motorcycle Club. His dedication to his lodge commitment is evident by him achieving his York Rite, Cryptic Masonry, and his membership with the Alhambra Shriners International.
He was a lifelong member of Long Island Baptist Church and a familiar face in the community. He loved God, family, friends, and country.
Dean leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: daughter, Jennifer Ledean Pyburn, his son, Justin Paul Fox; grandchildren : Max Turner Fox, Shyan Fox and Kaelyn Pyburn; brother Dale (Shelia) Shoemake, sister, Joyce (Benny) Berry ; a niece Joy (Michael) Bridger and nephews, Jimmy (Cindy) Graham, Chris (Carrie) Shoemake, Kerry Dwight Miller, Billy Lee (Carrie) McCarver, and Triston (Tabitha) McCarver along with several great nieces, nephews, cousins, a longtime friends and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Caves Shoemake; father, Alvin Lewis Shoemake; sisters, Sandra Graham, Kathy McCarver, and nephew Eddie Atchley.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, at 2PM (CST) in the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. David Marona.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 4-7 PM (CST) with a Masonic service in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 12-2 PM(CST) prior to the chapel service at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
Interment will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Long Island-Bryant, AL.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Guy Allen Frame, William "Bill" Bynum, Kerry Dewight Miller; Brothers and Sisters, of Ironworker Local 704 Chattanooga; Brothers and Sisters, of Ironworkers Local 92 Birmingham, Templar Brotherhood MC, and "The Anchor Inn Porch Sitters".
