July 22, 1933 – June 14, 2015
Don Edwin Griffin, Sr., 81, of the Layne's Cove Community in Pelham, TN died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home.
The son of the late Perry and Audrey Pearl Stanley Griffin, he was a truck driver with McLean Trucking Company for over 30 years. He served his country as Sgt. 1st Class with the US Army veteran during the Korean War, was a member of Valley Home Methodist Church in Valley Home, TN and a member of and a 32nd degree Mason at the Dunlap Lodge #693 F&AM. He loved spending his spare time rebuilding old, antique tractors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Perry Griffin and Kenneth Glenn Griffin and sisters, Clo Lee and Jo Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Griffin of Pelham, TN; children, Yvonne (Jamie) O'Linger of Bryant, AL, Don "Eddie" (Lou) Griffin, Jr. of New Hope, TN, Delisa (Neal) Hammons of Bishop, VA, Carmen (Reggie) Rowe of Caledonia, MS and Jason (Cindy) Griffin of El Paso, TX; step-son, Brian (Kelly) North of Enterprise, AL; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Royce Griffin of Dunlap, TN; sister, Sharon Culpepper of Jasper, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 10:00 am Central time on Friday, June 19, 2015 with Pastors Troy Smith and Kirk Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 4-8 pm Central time at the funeral home.
