Douglas Author Pickett, 45, a longtime resident of Whitwell, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Known to many as "Dougie Boy", he was graduate of Whitwell High School and longtime automobile mechanic.

He was a son of the late A.W. and Mary Jo Walker Pickett and was also preceded in death by siblings, Joyce Ann Hurd and Bradley Pickett.

A loving and devoted father, he cherished his sons, Colton Nunley and Hunter Pickett who survive him. Other survivors left to cherish his memory include siblings, Robert, Allen, Charles (Virginia), and Frances (Vincent) Hurd, as well as three step-sisters and one step-brother; aunt, Phyllis Arnold and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 1, 2019, in the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Walker officiating.

Interment will follow in Whitwell Memorial Cemetery, Whitwell.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 1, 2019, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
