Obituary

Edith Gilley Hamock of South Pittsburg, Tennessee died Monday, March 7, 2016 in a Chattanooga hospital.


The daughter of the late Leonard Durant Gilley and Cordie Carol Beene Gilley, she was raised and educated in Bridgeport, Alabama and moved to South Pittsburg, Tennessee when she married Turney Lee "Pinto" Hamock in 1949. She was of the Baptist faith and loved cooking, music and flowers.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Turney Lee Hamock, Sr., son, Turney Lee Hamock, Jr., and brothers, Don, Charles and Claude Gilley and Roy and J.C. Henegar.


She is survived by her children, Roger "Spud" (Beverly) Hamock of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Kathy (Wayne) McNabb of Jasper, Anita (William) Parker of South Pittsburg, and Angelia "Cusi" Hamock of Hardeeville, SC; ten grandchildren, Chad Hamock, Calvin McNabb, Tammie Rollins, Leah Hamock, Paige Parker, Kacie Howard, Adam Brown, Garrett Parker, Chelsea Brown and Haley Graham; eleven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Chase, Alivia, Jocelyn, Lilli, Reese, Laney, Landry, Gunner, Callie and Ethan; sister, Shirley Gilley; sister-in-law, Mary Gilley both of Bridgeport, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tennessee at 2 pm Central time on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 with Rev. Ronnie Case officiating.


The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, March 8th from 5-8pm and on Wednesday, March 9th from 12-1:30pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
