Edward G. Thompson, 73, of South Pittsburg, TN died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in a Chattanooga hospital.
The son of the late Edward and Jean Abbott Thompson, he was a direct descentdent on both sides of Scottish Ancestors and was very proud of his Scottish Heritage, even naming his dog "McGreggor." He was a US Army veteran, a Mason and Shriner and an avid golfer and member of Richard City Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He worked with TRW in Aeronautics and retired with 35 years of service with the Automotive Replacement Parts Division.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Jane Smith Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Thompson of South Pittsburg; sons, Robert E. Thompson of Corona, CA and James E. Thompson of Whiteside; granddaughter, Laura Ann Thompson of Whitwell; five step-sons, Bart (Sherry) Nelson of Hollywood, AL, Jeffery (Tamara) Nelson, Jonathon Nelson of South Pittsburg, Jay (Tarissa) Nelson of Millington, TN, Patrick (Miranda) Nelson of South Pittsburg; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles Smith of South Pittsburg; and sister-in-law, Ann (Fred) Van Aken of Palo Alto, CA.
Services will be conducted from the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 12 Noon with Dr. Glen Brister and Rev. James H. Patterson officiating. Interment will be in Gilliam Cemetery with Masonic services.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-9 PM CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard City or Jasper Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
