Mr. Ernest L. "Jerry" Summers, Sr., 71, of South Pittsburg, TN died Thursday, January 17, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital.

The son of the late Thomas Benton and Ernestine "Tootsie" Summers, he was a carpenter with Union local #74 and worked at TVA. He enjoyed socializing, woodworking, flower and vegetable gardening and caring for his dogs. He is remembered as a loving husband and "the best" father and Papa to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Viola Mae "June" Summers; sons, Ernest Larry Summers, Jr. and David Allen Summers and wife, Tammy; four grandchildren, Bradley Wade Summers and wife, Lisa, Brandon Keith Summers, Kristel Summers and Heather Summers; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Nickie Summers and wife, June; sister, Rachel Creek and husband, Bobby; sisters-in-law, Carolyn "Sue" Thomas and husband, Wendell, and Linda Faye Mann and husband, Tim; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2pm Central time on Monday, January 21st with Rev. Richard Barham officiating. Interment will be in Monteagle Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 1-8 pm Central time on Sunday, January 20th.
