Mr. Eugene Edward "Gene" Swafford, 72, a lifelong resident of Jasper, Tennessee, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at his home following an extended illness.The son of the late Ancil Joseph and Imogene Sleigh Swafford, he was a member of the South Pittsburg Church of Christ and had worked as an offset printer for several years. He was a retired employee of TVA, a volunteer fireman for the Jasper Fire Department, an auxiliary policeman for the Town of Jasper, a former member of the Water Board, and the Planning Commission. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Katherine Tatum Swafford; two daughters, Kayla (Tony) Springs, and Clarissa A. Swafford, all of Jasper; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Springs, of Nashville, Derrick L. Springs, of Cookeville, Blake Springs, of Jasper; one brother, Joseph Swafford, of Houston, Texas; and one nephew, Joey Swafford also of Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 11, at 2:00 PM, CST, with Ministers James Warren and Bill Helm officiating. Interment was in Anderson Cemetery. Pallbearers are Donald Leiderman, L. T. Partin, Tony Springs, Derrick Springs, Tony Westmoreland, Michael Westmoreland.
