Dec. 27, 1935 – July 8, 2026

South Pittsburg, Tennessee

George Thomas Blevins, 90, of South Pittsburg, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

George was a man of many gifts and unwavering character. A devoted farmer, he spent much of his life working the land he loved, finding joy in the changing seasons and satisfaction in an honest day's work. His strong hands and tireless work ethic reflected the values he carried throughout his life—faith, perseverance, and dedication.

Proudly serving his country as a soldier, George answered the call of duty with courage and honor.

Music was one of the great passions of his heart. A talented musician and lifelong lover of bluegrass music, he found joy in every note, whether playing for family and friends, gathering with fellow musicians, or listening to the timeless melodies he cherished. Through music, he brought smiles, comfort, and fellowship to many.

Above all else, George loved his church and his faith in God. He was a faithful member whose life reflected kindness, generosity, and a servant's heart. His church family was a treasured part of his life, and he found strength, purpose, and peace in his relationship with the Lord.

Family and friends were the center of his world. He never met a stranger and was always ready with a warm smile, a helping hand, a good story, or a word of encouragement. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved, sharing meals, making memories, and passing along wisdom earned through a life rich with experience.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, music, friendship, and love. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his memory will live on in the fields he tended, the songs he played, the faith he shared, and the lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jo Adam and Lorene Blevins; two sisters, Sheila and Katherine; one brother, Adam Blevins.

He is survived by his two sons, Tommy (Christy) Blevins and Shelvy Blevins; siblings, Ruby Winters, Ray Blevins, Judy Nelson, Dewey Blevins, Margaret Chaffin, Will Blevins and Linda Southerland; four grandchildren, Kaleb Blevins, Soluman Blevins, Crystal Blevins and RA; five great grandchildren Merdith, Micah, Mako, Azel and Jael and several nieces and nephews and cherished friends, and countless others whose lives were blessed by his presence.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (CDT) in the chapel of South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Winters officiating.

The Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard will conduct full Military Honors for Mr. Blevins at the New Hope Cemetery.

Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in New Hope, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CDT) and on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
