Mr. George Edward Bolton, Sr. known to many as "Mr. B" or "Mr. Ed", 77, of Jasper, TN died Monday, June 2, 2008 in a local hospital.
The son of the late George Bennett and Gladys Griffith Bolton, he served in the United States Army in the Korean War conflict in the 45th Infantry Division as Active Sergeant and BAR Gunner. He fought in the battle of Baldy Ridge where his squad received the Silver Star. He attended the University of Tennessee where he studied religion and business administration. He was an ordained Methodist minister and pastored Mt. Harman Methodist Church in Powell, TN near Knoxville. He was a member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #297 since 1968, was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and associate member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church. He was a District Supervisor for Dollar General, Area Manager for Big Lots and had a franchise with Sealtest for 17 years. He retired as a retail manager for Zayre's. He was preceded in death by two wives, Martha Minter Bolton and June Colston Bolton; sister, Bonnie Bolton Hickman and step-son, Michael Foster.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Overton Bolton, two sons, Jeffrey Van (Glenda) Bolton of Jasper and George E. (Betty) Bolton, Jr. of Johnson City, TN; daughter, Linda Moree Foster of South Pittsburg; three step-daughters, Lisa (Tony) Trout of Westmoreland, TN, Rachel Tuttle and Mary (Todd) Shoulders of Gallatin, TN; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; sister, Faye (Earl) Faulkner of Knoxville, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 10:00 AM CDT with Reverends Roger Webb and Chris Dover officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.
The family will gather with friends for visitation on Wednesday, June 4th from 9 AM - 9 PM CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Hill Baptist Church.
