Mr. George Earl Rector, 83, of Jasper, TN, died Saturday, May 1, 2010.
The son of the late Horace R. and Bertie Smith Rector, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Royce Rector. An Army Veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Wheland Foundry, Mr. Rector had been a faithful Deacon and Treasurer of Mineral Springs Baptist Church for over 40 years.
Mr. Rector is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Sampley Rector, one daughter, Wanda (Jerry)Knoll of Jasper, two sons, James (Linda)Rector of Jasper and Robert Rector of Lafayette, GA, two sisters, Lois Lewis of Kimball and Joyce Fuller of Jasper, six grandchildren, Cindy (J.) Bray of Whitwell, Jamie Bailey of Jasper, Scott Rector of Rossville, GA, Karrie (Dan) McGannon of Orangeburg, SC, Kristy (Kevin) Hubbard of Jasper, Traci Knoll of Decatur, TN and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11:00am Central on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, with Rev. Michael Ake officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 3, between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00pm at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.
