Obituary

Mrs. Gertrude Bible Link, 97, a native of Jasper, TN passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 in a local nursing home.

Born in 1915 to the late Jake C. and Della Thomas Bible, she was a graduate of MTSU having received her Bachelor's and Master's of Arts Degrees in Education. She returned to Jasper and began a 37 year career as an English teacher at Marion County High School. While teaching, she organized a high school garden club, the Green Daffy Diggers, who did much work in landscaping the campus and keeping plants and flower arrangements in the school.

Gertrude was a member of First Baptist Church, Jasper and was instrumental in organizing the Green Thumb Garden Club, the Mountain Valley Council of Garden Clubs and a charter member of Designers' Study Club and the Tri-State Rose Society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and had held offices in each of these organizations. She was a master judge of the National Council of Garden Clubs, a life rose horticulture judge, rose arrangement judge of the American Rose Society and also a consulting Rosarian. Her personal rose garden was a showcase of her love and extensive knowledge of roses and their care.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Hannah Curtis, Bonnie Layne and Cathryn Durham; two brothers, Bill and Carl Bible; and her husband, Harlen Link.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 11th at 2pm Central time with Rev. Roger Webb officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, December 10th from 4-8pm Central time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
