Gunter Joachim Klima, 84, of Kimball, TN died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his home following a battle with cancer.
The son of the late Wilhelm and Maria Neumann Klima, he was a native of Berlin, Germany, who grew up during the war years. He was an Electrical Engineer and Supervisor with Siemens AEG having worked in Germany, Africa, New Zealand, Switzerland, Egypt, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela and in the USA at Raccoon Mountain. He married Virginia "Gina" Rogers on April 5, 1980 and lived for several more years in Brazil before settling in Kimball in 1985.
A member of the German/American Club in Chattanooga and Holly Avenue United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg, TN, Gunter enjoyed spending his retirement years cooking, gardening and caring for his yard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Renate K. Beran of Berlin, Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Gina Rogers Klima of Kimball, TN; daughter, Krissi Klima (SSGT Mike) Mansholt; grandson, Brayden Mansholt and granddaughter-to-be Adalyn Mansholt, all of Okinawa, Japan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Susan & Bob Thomas of Monteagle, TN, Elizabeth & Zach Kelly of Jasper, TN, Jim & Teresa Rogers of South Pittsburg, TN and Bob & Angie Rogers of Chattanooga, TN; nieces and nephews, Dayna (Tom) Eddy of Lookout Mountain, TN, Patrick (Desiree) Kelly of San Diego, CA, Meegan (Gil) Burton of Kimball, TN, Britt (Ryan) Kelly of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Ben (Allison) Rogers of Blountville, TN, Adam Rogers of Alpharetta, GA, Hannah and Evan Rogers of Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted at Holly Avenue United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg, TN, at 1:00pm Central Time on Saturday, August 15, 2015 with Rev. Larry Murphy and Rev. Lyle White officiating. Interment will be at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, August 14th at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, TN, from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
