Mr. Harold Loyd Burgett, 82, of South Pittsburg, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 in a local nursing home following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.The oldest of the nine children born to the late Harvey Bradford and Earline Pedigo Burgett, he was a native of Kentucky. A US Army veteran of World War II, he moved to South Pittsburg in 1969. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal in South Pittsburg where he was also a former member of the vestry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Burgett, one daughter, Alice Carol Burgett, son, Kenneth Burgett, granddaughter, Katherine Ann Jones and seven siblings.He is survived by his children, Nancy and Billy Jones of Port Gibson, Mississippi and Margaret and Billy King of South Pittsburg; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Neal of Portland, TN; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted from the Christ Church Episcopal in South Pittsburg on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 11 AM CDT with Rev. Stephen Eichler officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 4-9 PM CDT on Monday, March 12 at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 302 3rd Street, South Pittsburg, TN 37380.
