Helen Cagle Merrell, 94, of Jasper, TN died Thursday, August 7, 2014 in a Chattanooga, TN assisted living facility.


The daughter of the late Elijah Benjamin and Lassie Burton Cagle, she was a retired bookkeeper having worked for many years in the Marion County School System. She was of the Baptist faith and loved spending her time painting, cooking and playing piano.


She is survived by her sisters, Maudie Sisemore of Jasper and Janie C. Smith of Chattanooga; son, Allen (Judy) Merrell of Graysville, GA; grandson, Chad (Laura) Merrell of Sequatchie, TN; daughter-in-law, Wanda Johnson of Jasper; great-grandchildren, Chase and Corbin Merrell and Justin Ireland; several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9th at 2 pm Central time with Rev. Lynn Cassiday and Rev. Doug Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.


The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 5-8 pm Central time at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.
