Herbert Willis Melton, age 88, of Guild, Tennessee, passed away peacefully with his loving family on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Herbert was born at home in his hometown of Whitwell, Tennessee, in 1938 to Comer Herbert and Edith Mae Melton. Throughout his life, Herbert demonstrated an unwavering love for his family and a strong work ethic. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who treasured the time he spent with those he loved.

Herbert was married to Nancy Lee Melton for 67 years until her passing. He carried his love for Nancy with him throughout the remainder of his life, keeping her memory close in his heart and honoring her through his thoughts and actions.

Herbert dedicated 50 years of service to building a safer and brighter America through his work at Southern Foundry, where he worked from 1958 until his retirement in 2008. After retiring, Herbert enjoyed spending his remaining years with his wife and family, creating many cherished memories together.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Melton; parents, Comer Herbert Melton and Edith Mae Kilgore Melton; brothers, Jim Melton and Stanley Melton; and great-great-grandson, Mason VanHoosier.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Kenneth (Cindy) Melton and Phillip (Rebecca) Melton; sisters, Ann McNabb, Mary Jones, Joyce Whited, and Jane Melton Gregg; grandchildren, Misty (Sergio) Wong, Jessica (Carmello) Gonzalez, Chris (Laura) Melton, Jennifer (John) Rector, Stephanie (Nate) Miller, Erica Fulfer, and Emily Fulfer; great-grandchildren, Katie, Alexis, Cassie, Carlos, KC, Jazmyn, Jacob, Jeremy, Hailey, Thaliá, Julianá, Carmen, Kameron, Jaylen, Bryson, and Hadley; great-great-grandchildren, Bella, Kenzie, Saban, Axel, Mallory, and Lainey; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (CDT) in the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home,21 East Fifth Street, Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating.

Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Melton, John Rector, Kameron Rector, Jaylen Hicks, Jeremy Melton and Chris Melton.

Herbert will be lovingly remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the many years of love and memories he shared with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
