Mr. Herman Brown "Yap" Killian, 85, of South Pittsburg, TN died Monday, March 5, 2007 at his home.The son of the late Charlie Thomas and Lillie Maude Carter Killian, he was a 1941 graduate of South Pittsburg High School. He was an accomplished athlete as a young man and an avid sports fan and golfer in his later years. A U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, he was the batting champion in the Chinese and Japanese theaters during his years in service. After his military service, he served as the Commander of American Legion Post 62. His many years of public service began when he was elected Justice of the Peace in 1954 and continued with his service as Circuit Court Clerk for Marion County from 1966 to 1984. In public and private life, one of his lifelong joys was helping others.He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Killian, Faris G. Killian and Charles L. "Cotton" Killian and sister, Ina K. Cox.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Inez Killian; his children, Mary Faye and Gary Payne of South Pittsburg, Bill Killian of Jasper, Mike and Donna Killian and Randall Killian all of South Pittsburg; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Hensley of Red Bank; several nieces and nephews.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the South Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department, Hospice, or your favorite charity.Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 11:00 AM CST at First Baptist Church in South Pittsburg with Reverend Ronnie Case officiating.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 6 from 5-9 PM CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
