Mrs. Evelyn Inez Smith, 89, of South Pittsburg, TN, died peacefully at her home Saturday morning, August 31, 2013, one day shy of her 90th birthday.
The widow of James Fred Smith, she was also preceded in death by her parents Charles Henry and Sally Ann Green Elrod of Sparta, TN, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Smith. A lifelong resident of Marion County, she was of the Baptist faith and was a long-time employee of Holly Avenue United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Fred D. "Sonny" Smith; grandchildren David Smith, Mary Chambers, and Elizabeth Marie West; great-grandchildren Christopher Dalton, Amber Keel, and Miranda Smith; great-great grandchildren Lily and Bella Keel, all of South Pittsburg and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the South Pittsburg chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, at 11:00am, with Bo Smith and Rev. John Peardon officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
