Obituary

James (Jim) Clayton Tipton, a resident of Chattanooga passed away peacefully, Tuesday August 11, 2015, at the hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, pops, poppy, and a special friend. He will also be missed by his Chihuahua, Snack Pac.
Jim was a lifelong Chattanooga and Georgia area resident. He was of the Baptist faith, retired from United Liquor Corp. and was the owner of several businesses in Chattanooga. Jim was a master of all trades; he could repair, build, or create a solution for any task at hand. He was also an avid Braves fan, never missing a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman (Kit) and Julia Tipton, sister, Norma Jean Hash and grandson, Andrew Barnes.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Marcell Blevins Tipton; two daughters, Christina (Jeff) Barnes of Rossville, Ga., and Jan Tipton of Cohutta, Ga.; sons, Clay Tipton of Ringgold, Ga., and Justin Tipton of Chattanooga, Tn., and his sister, Myra Faye Thomas of Cordesville, S.C.; 6 grandchildren; Zachary Barnes, Nicole and James Tipton, Crystal Bass and Jason Tipton and 3 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life memorial is planned for 5 PM central time on Saturday, August 15th in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, located at 400 Laurel Avenue, South Pittsburg, TN. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM central time.
Interment will follow in the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, 3076 Main Street, Jasper, Tn. 37347.
