James Levi Dixon, 66, of Flint, Michigan died suddenly on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
Jim was born and raised in Sequatchie, TN, the son of the late George Washington and Mary Lou Chambers Dixon. He lived most of his life in Flint, Michigan and retired after 32 years of service at Peerless Mattress & Furniture Company where he worked as a laborer and also served as Union President. He was also a local musician in Flint, playing for many years with his brother, George in the band Nashville North.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Dee, Michael, Gordon, and George Dixon.
He is survived by his sons, Matt (Jeni) Dixon and Jason (Jenny) Dixon; grandchildren, Austin, Payton, Isabella and Isaac Dixon all of Flint, Michigan; sisters, Betty Ellison of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, Ann Hinch and Emma Gerard both of Dayton, TN; several nieces, nephews and many friends from Flint, Michigan.
Visitation will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11 from 11am until service time.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 11th at 1pm at the Jasper Chapel with Mr. Dixon's niece, Minister Deborah Walker officiating. Interment will be in Lasater Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lasater Cemetery fund, c/o Jim Holtcamp, PO Box 61, Sequatchie, TN 37374.
