Mr. J. R. "Sonny" Murner, 94, of Jasper, TN, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 in a local nursing home. The son of the late Lawrence Gleason and Minnie Parnell Murner, he was a member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church, a 50- year member of Olive Branch Lodge #297, the York Rite, and the Scottish Rite, and was retired from TVA - Widow's Creek. Mr. Murner was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, a grandson, Tim Peardon, his son-in-law, Clifford Peardon, six sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Peardon, a granddaughter, Suzy Martin, both of Guild, TN; a grandson, Eddie (Debbie) Peardon, of Jasper; one sister, Christine Correia of Alexander City, AL; Great-grandchildren Chuck Martin, Matt Peardon, Mary Martin, and Jennifer (Heath) Gruetter, one great-great grandchild, Kaeden Gruetter, 2 special nieces, Jean (Charlie) Parks and Barbara Campbell, and his sitter, Pat Pickett. Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00pm CST on Monday, December 11, with Revs. Ronnie Smith and Walter Patterson officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday evening, from 4:00 to 9:00pm. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Guild First Baptist Church, Baptist Hill Baptist Church, or to a favorite charity.
