James Edward O'Linger, 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home in Bryant, Al, on Thursday, October 13, 2022.

James was a 1964 graduate of Bridgeport. He was a carpenter by trade and worked several years for TVA as a carpenter. He was a member of the Long Island Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, hunting and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly Lee Olinger and Alice Rebecca Pemberton Olinger; sister, Joyce Olinger Gossett; three infant sisters; three brothers-in-law, Ravon Bryant, Dennis Smith and Wheeler Gossett.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yvonne Griffin O'Linger; daughters, Stephanie (Chris) O'Linger Smith, Jennifer O'Linger Griffin; grandchildren, Savannah (Ryan) Smith, Katelyn Smith, Austynn Smith, Nicholas "Nic" Grider, Daniel Griffin; brother, John (Hilda) Olinger; sisters, Hazel Bryant, Jesse Smith and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. (CST) with Bro. David Marona and Bro. Sam Whited officiating.

Pallbearers are Bob Bynum, Jr., Kenny Olinger, Robbie Olinger, Tracey Smith, Curtis, Blevins, and Bobby Scharer.

Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Griffin, River Griffin, Caleb Choate, and Adam Wileman.

James will be laid to rest at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Bryant, Alabama.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CST) and on Tuesday October 18, 2022 from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. (CST) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Juvenile Diabetes Association and Long Island Baptist Youth Ministry.
