Ellen Jane Kirkpatrick, 79, of South Pittsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
"Janie" was the daughter of the late Charles Anderson Allen, Sr., and Grace Walden Allen. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Allen, John Stewart, and Charles "Goodboy" Allen, Jr., sisters, Margie Stewart, Elizabeth Pittman, and Linda "Cooter" Willis. Her sweet daughter, Susan Kirkpatrick, and nephews Tony Allen, Scotty Allen,James William Allen and Paul Pittman.
She is survived by her loving and loyal husband of 55 years, John Neil Kirkpatrick; sisters, Annabelle Crownover, and Jean Murray.
Born on April 20, 1942, Janie graduated from South Pittsburg High School and was later employed by TVA at the Widows Creek Steam plant where she worked for 26 years.
Janie loved to travel with her family and helped to organize bus trips to various parts of the country for many years.
Her family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care that was given to her by Karen Teeter, Patricia Brophy and Linda Toney. They became good friends as well as caregivers. We would also like to give a special thank you to New Beacon and North Alabama Hospice for their kind service, and to two special friends Anne and Darrell Mosser who visited every week.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Richards Cemetery in Richard City, Tennessee, officiating by Brian Tetter.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CST) at Rogers Funeral Home of South Pittsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holly Avenue United Methodist Church, where Janie attended faithfully, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Pallbearers will be Joe David Allen, Kevin Fuqua, Trace Kennemore, Mason Fuqua, Wayne Willis, and Randy Kirkpatrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Ament and Kirk Fuqua.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home, 400 Laurel Ave, South Pittsburg, (423) 837-7176.
