Jerry Bill Cantrell, 76, of Birchwood, TN, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Chattanooga, following a brief illness.
The son of the late Charlie and Verna Parker Cantrell, he was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou Keahey Cantrell, and a daughter, Terri Lisa Cantrell.
He was a member of the American Legion, having served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was a diesel mechanic for many years, working first for Wheland Trucking and then Penske, from whom he retired in 1999.
Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Nelson Cantrell of Birchwood, a daughter, Kimberly Power of Jasper; a son, Chris Cantrell of Kingsport, TN; brother Jimmy Cantrell of South Pittsburg; sisters Helen Brewer and Juanita Green of Jasper; step-children Diana Broadwell of Chattanooga, Pete Martel of Pikeville, Lillian Green of Chattanooga, Linda Parker of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren Cyndi and Brooke VanAllman and Cory and Josh Cagle; 5 step-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg at 2:00 pm Central Time on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm Central Time on Monday at the funeral home.
