Gerald Michael Clepper, 77, of South Pittsburg, TN died Thursday, July 3, 2014 following a brief illness.

Born in Seattle, Washington he was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lovelace Clepper a native of Lindale, Georgia and Mildred Esther Walker a native of Cleveland, Tennessee. The family moved to South Pittsburg when Jerry was young and he attended Richard Hardy Memorial School, South Pittsburg High School. He went on to attend East High School in Nashville, TN and Gordon Military School.
Jerry spent almost 50 years working in the transportation industry, working in Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Gonce Clepper of South Pittsburg; daughters, Elizabeth Jayne Clepper (Paul) Halvorson of Jonesboro, GA and Deborah Lynne Clepper Pickens of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Charles Michael (Amanda) Pickens of Birmingham, AL, Ann Pickens of Cleveland, TN and Mathew Halvorson of Jonesboro, GA; great-granddaughter, Abby Lyn Pickens; brothers, James A. (Judy) Clepper and Ray K. "Butch" (Pauline) Clepper of South Pittsburg; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from Christ Church Episcopal in South Pittsburg at 2pm Central time on Sunday, July 6, 2014 with Rev. Kim Hobby officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday evening from 5-8 pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.

The family requests that no flowers be sent. They suggest memorial donations be made to the South Pittsburg Heritage Museum, PO Box 175, South Pittsburg, TN 37380.
