James "Jimmy" Godsey, 87, of Jasper, TN., passed away on Sunday, September 13. 2020.

Jim graduated from Marion County High School.  Then joined the Merchant Marines, and later served in the United States Army.

Jim had a long career with the United States Postal Service and then served as the Jasper Postmaster from 1983 until he retired in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Godsey; parents, Robert and Fannie Godsey; sister, Mary Frances Burnett.

Survivors include his two daughters, Donna Raye (Gary) Adams, Robin (Roger) Billingsley; sister, Martha (Jerry) Payne; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Amy Ragan, Cynthia Greer, Dayna Vinson, Charlotte Smith and Angie Warren, and many friends.

A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 with Reverend Steve Sellers officiating in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.

A private family visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the chapel service.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. Anyone that would like to attend the interment is welcome.

Pallbearers will be Bo Burnett, Labron Warren, Alan Payne, Randy Cookston, Dewey Poe and Steve Maples.
