Joann Black Walker of South Pittsburg, TN died Saturday, July 31, 2021 . She was a charter member of Sweeten's Cove Church of Christ and an Elementary school teacher for 52 years.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Lily Robinson Black, her husband, Bobby Frank Walker, her sister Betty Mickler, her niece Jennifer Gudger and her nephew, Brent Grider.
Survivors are her five sisters; Glenda Gudger, Wilma Castle (Rance), Brenda Jones, Carolyn Grider (Tommy) and Donna Siler, as well as her brother and sister-in-law; Dan and Elaine Mickler. Other survivors are five nephews; Keith and Kent Mickler, Chris Jones, Garrett and Justin Graham. Joann is also survived by five nieces; Robin Findley, Michelle Gudger, Kim Hood, Stacey Rogers, and Wendy Grider, great nephews; Drew, Dakota, Coltin, Montana, Zach, Caden, Solomon and Simon; eight great-nieces; Haylie, Jackson, Macey, Austin, Mollie, Mattie, Kensley and Mabrey, one great-great-nephew, Nathan, three great-great nieces, Kyleigh, Kadence and Kimber, as well as, several cousins and good friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CST) prior to the funeral service in the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. (CST) in the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home of South Pittsburg, TN with Ministers Tim Story, Rusty Hargis and nephews Keith Mickler and Chris Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kent and Zach Mickler, Garrett and Justin Graham, Drew Jones, Joe, Dakota, and Montana Findley, Les and Caden Hood, Coltin Blevins and Chad Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers are Dan Mickler, Rance Castle, Tommy Grider, Ray and Steve Sitz, and all the men at Sweeten's Cove Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sweeten's Cove Church of Christ in care of Margie Allison, 4840 Sweeten's Cove Road, South Pittsburg, TN 37380
