John A. Hogan

John A. Hogan, 88, of New Hope, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at a local hospital.
He was born in Chattanooga, TN, on February 9, 1938, and was a lifelong resident of New Hope.
From a young age, John dedicated his life to helping others. He began working alongside his family and neighbors at the age of seven, assisting in farming and repairing vehicles and farm equipment. This deep-rooted work ethic defined his entire life, and he continued to serve his community with unwavering dedication, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.
John was Veteran of the United States Army. He had a passion for raising horses and cattle, and he spent countless hours working with animals and on cars. His love for gospel and bluegrass music filled his home and heart, and he found joy in spending time with his family, particularly during gatherings that brought everyone together. He was also known for being a brick mason in the community.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His kindness, generosity, and sense of community made him a cherished figure in New Hope. John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
John was preceded in death by his Parents, Carl A. Hogan and Palestine “Pat” Griffin Hogan; brothers and sisters, Charlotte Hogan, Leroy Hogan Charles “Lester” Hogan Patsy Hogan Webb, Gary Hogan, and Karen Hogan Chance; wife, Wanda Woody Hogan; daughter, Debrah Renee Hogan; sons, Johnny Patrick Hogan and Alan Lee Hogan.
John is survived by his son, Ronald Mark Hogan; grandson, Jered Hogan; granddaughter, Jessica Hogan Camp; granddaughters, Gabrielle Hogan, Hollingsworth; grandson, Dallas Hogan; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In honoring his memory, the family asks that you reflect on the legacy of kindness and service that John leaves behind. He touched many lives and will always be remembered for his enduring love for his family and his community.
John’s legacy of helping others, his love for his family, and his joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him most. May he rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (CDT) at Rogers Funeral Home South Pittsburg, Chapel with Pastor Roger Webb officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the service in the chapel.
